Our Story

Hi, I’m Rylan. 🤍
I’m a wife, a mama to two little cuties (with one more on the way), and the heart behind Second Saddle Vintage.
This business has been a dream of mine since I became a single mom at 18. At the time, I didn’t have much—just a dream that one day I could build a life where I could be present for my children, create something with my own two hands, and give my family a life that looked different than simply surviving paycheck to paycheck.
I started small, selling vintage denim and antiques. Before long, I created what would become my original vintage NFR buckle hats. I never expected those hats to become the beginning of something so much bigger. I was simply making something I loved and praying someone else would love it too.
As time has gone by, this little dream has grown right alongside me. What started with jeans, antiques, and my original buckle hats has become something I pour my whole heart into every single day. I’ve completely fallen in love with designing hats—dreaming up new styles, creating original designs, mixing vintage pieces with fresh ideas, and pushing myself creatively in ways I never imagined. Every collection tells a story, every hat is made with intention, and every new design reminds me why I started this journey in the first place. Watching this business grow has felt like watching a dream unfold one piece at a time.
On a personal level, this business has also been a huge part of my healing. After walking through postpartum depression, postpartum OCD, PTSD, trauma, and some of the hardest seasons of my life, having a creative outlet and something meaningful to pour my heart into helped me find purpose again. It carried me through a season of being bullied and has continued to be a place of peace, healing, and hope ever since. Creating has given me purpose on the hard days, peace in the middle of chaos, and a reminder that even after the darkest seasons, healing is possible. Every stitch, every design, and every hat has been part of that journey, and I’ll always be grateful for what this little business has given me.
None of this would’ve been possible without my husband, Wyatt. He believed in me before I believed in myself. He encouraged every late night, every crazy idea, every risk, and every dream. He reminded me that this little business was worth fighting for, even when I doubted myself, and he has stood beside me through every high and every low. While I design every hat, Wyatt carefully prepares every vintage buckle for me before it becomes part of one of my creations. Every buckle hat and accessory that leaves our shop has both our hands behind it, making each one a true labor of love. This business has become something we’ve built together, and I truly couldn’t have done this without him.
But this dream didn’t become a reality because of us alone- it became possible because of all of you.
To every single person who’s ever purchased a hat, shared one of my posts, worn one of my creations, recommended my business to a friend, or simply believed in me—thank you. There truly aren’t enough words to express what your support has meant to our family.
You didn’t just help grow a small business. You changed our lives.
Because of you, we no longer live paycheck to paycheck. Because of you, my children get a childhood filled with moments instead of missed opportunities. They get more afternoons with their mom, more evenings with their dad, more camping trips, rodeos, ice cream dates, vacations, bedtime stories, and slow mornings together. They get parents who aren’t constantly worrying about how to make ends meet, but instead get to be fully present for the little moments that become the biggest memories.
The greatest gift this business has given me isn’t the hats—it’s time. Time to watch my babies grow. Time to cheer them on. Time to build traditions they’ll remember long after they’re grown. Those are moments money could never replace, and they’re only possible because of every single one of you.
Second Saddle Vintage has never just been about western hats or vintage finds. It’s about faith, family, second chances, and creating pieces that make people feel confident while supporting a dream that has completely changed our family’s future.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in me, supporting my family, and allowing me to do what I love every single day. I truly believe God has used this little business to bless our family in ways I never could’ve imagined, and I’m so grateful He chose to use each of you as part of that story.
I hope every hat that leaves my shop reminds you that you’re carrying a tiny piece of a dream that you helped make possible. I’ll never stop thanking God—and all of you—for changing our lives.
With love,
Rylan 🤍
